1 of 3 - Was the policy purchased before the beginning of March?

This question is specifically for cancellation claims as a result of COVID-19

Insurance policies are intended to cover financial losses due to sudden and unforeseen events. With this is mind, there could be no cover under a policy for any event which was already known about at the time the policy was purchased, or the trip booked (whichever is later). On the 3rd March COVID-19 was a known event and so it’s unlikely your claim will be successful if your policy was purchased on or after this date

2 of 3 - Have you read your policy wording to see what you are covered for?

Your policy wording would have been sent with your purchase confirmation via Email or Post. Copies of policy wordings are also available from the insurance provider’s website. Within the Policy Wording read your cancellation coverage which is sometimes worded as "If you are unable to go on your trip".

You should look to see if the policy includes cover for “the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advises against all, or all but essential travel” or “the outbreak of infection or disease at your trip destination” if your claim is due to COVID-19
